This was a restful episode compared to last week's punch-in-the-face, so yay for that.
I almost... don't have a lot to say about it, really. It was nice seeing more of Kaede and Kotetsu's mom, and getting to see his brother and a bit of Tomoe in flashback. I like all of them; they seem like nice, down-to-earth people. ("Kotetsu... two dollars," bwah.) Kaede is very ten, and it's both endearing and painfully awkward to watch Kotetsu being a fail!dad because he's still thinking of her as a much younger child.
The flashback to Tomoe... oh man. ;_; One of the best parts of the episode, for me.
In contrast, Mom Kaburagi collapsing seemed a bit forced - I don't mind the idea, but the execution wasn't quite right, especially since she's fine again in an hour. And Hundred Power super-hearing was absolutely the writers getting yet more mileage out of how vaguely-described the Hundred Power is, but I will forgive it for the sake of Kotetsu finally getting to be a hero for Kaede.
I mind his decision to quit less than I thought I would - of course, there's eight episodes to go, so there's no way it's going to stick just yet. I feel kind of bad that he made that promise to Kaede, when he's almost certainly not going to manage to follow through until the end of the show. Oops. I am, however, looking forward to seeing Barnaby's reaction to having that bombshell dropped next episode.
Next week: Ouroboros returns to the plotline! And judging by the title, we're getting set for some revelations that the characters were happier not knowing about.
