Cinderella III: okay, I'm twelve.

When Cinderella II was released to video, it left me convinced that the House of Mouse was scraping the absolute bottom of the creativity barrel. I mean, of all the Disney animated features, Cinderella was probably the one with the least material from qhich to make a sequel. There is JUST NO STORY THERE.
...I just watched Cinderella III. Voluntarily. I in fact broke a very firm No Disney Animated Sequels policy to do so.
And it is... well. I won't call it good. It's roughly as syrupy as you might expect, the pacing is kind of haphazard, and the songs are pastede on yey.
But ZOMG GUYS, THEY GRAFTED A PERSONALITY ONTO PRINCE CHARMING. One of the blandest, most plot-device-tastic excuses for a character in the entire Disney canon - Disney princes were Really Damn Dull until Sleeping Beauty - and they grafted a personality onto him! Granted, it's a kind of gullible and not especially bright personality, but I DIDN'T THINK THEY COULD ACTUALLY DO IT.
Plus they sort of gave one of the wicked stepsisters a personality as well. It wasn't much better than her "girl-shaped package of Horrible And Ugly" depiction in the original, but it's something.
And... the major characters' actions, for the most part, make a startling amount of sense. Well, for people who hang out with talking mice, at least. CINDERELLA DID LOTS OF STUFF. AND IT WAS MOSTLY ALL SMART STUFF.
I'm kind of... impressed.
