Romeo x Juliet 01

joiedecombatJapan proves that Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet is exponentially more interesting when:
A) Verona is a floating sky city and
B) Juliet cross-dresses and swordfights.
Also, omg pretty.

Edit: Tip to the online anime reviewers who are shocked and dismayed to find that the anime is not a faithful adaptation of the play: this series is by Gonzo, also responsible for the Seven Samurai anime with all the futuristic mecha combat. And all of the trailers for Romeo x Juliet showed flying horses and sky city and Juliet sword-fighting. It is not like you did not know what you were getting into.
YOU FAIL.
Seriously, disliking the series on the basis of the first episode is one thing. Disliking it for stupid reasons is another. The original play wasn't all that great to begin with, so remarks about "I don't remember that from Shakespeare's play" aren't so much funny as they are... dumb.
