Glass Fleet and Ficnatter

Watched some more Glass Fleet.
It's still kind of on crack, and I am still not really paying much attention to the War Plot, although episode 10 introduced an amusing third-party player in B.B. of Bardeaux, a woman who spent most of the episode casually shuffling the representatives of both sides back and forth in and out of her meeting room, waiting to see which one of them would make her the better offer. I approve of this level of chutzpah.
Also, I was totally right about which character was secretly a woman... which was not that hard to guess, honestly, but usually the audience gets let in on the secret right off, rather than waiting seven episodes for the Big Reveal.
(Which would have been a bigger reveal if the subtitles had not occasionally had the two other major characters referring to the character in question with feminine pronouns, implying that both of them were wise to the secret when in fact they weren't. I know Japanese and its failure to use pronouns much makes this kind of thing awkward, but you could at least make an effort, Funimation. I am just saying.)
Anyway, I am still pretty much watching for Michel and Cleo, who I'm liking quite a bit. Michel is very earnest and idealistic and driven and a bit dense in a particularly earnest and idealistic fashion, and has worked up a nice little case of hero-worship of Cleo, and Cleo is your basic taciturn, tactless ass whose jerkassedness has the benefit of Getting Stuff Done... and is totally hot for Michel albeit probably not quite aware of it yet. (Seriously. "Are those the wings of an angel?" is unexpectedly sappy even coming from a character who likes to speak in metaphors as much as Cleo does.)
Vetti, meanwhile, continues to be kind of skeevy. And gay. And he has his own clingy jealous shota bodyguard named Ralph who is going to have a psychotic break before the series is over, I am calling it now.
Something else I am calling now is Cleo's death sometime before the end of the series, based mostly on Michel's pre-credits emo narrations. Just a hunch. We'll see.
Meanwhile, probably because it's Global Plot Tiems on BnB... I'm getting random fiction ideas. For one thing, as already mentioned, I've gotten renewed inspiration for that FFVIII Squalltimecia fic; I'm also inspired once again to write "Persistence of Memory," which I originally plotted something like four years ago and never wrote because Squall's deep thoughts are hard for me to write. So maybe I can turn out at least part of one or both of them sometime in the near future.
And at least one Gundam SEED fic, WTF. I'm not sure but I think this is indirectly
annwyd's fault somehow.
And a story set in an alternate version of
nexuscity which doesn't actually use any of the characters established in NC so far, what the hell, brain. It's still sketchy, as, let's face it, all of my ideas are, but presently it involves a pre-teen or teenaged girl refugee from a world that fell to a Zombie Apocalypse (heavily inspired by
funwithrage's Ivy Freeman); a Sekrit Society organized for purposes as yet unclear but related to, at least as they see it, keeping Nexus City from going all to pieces and/or getting taken over by Scary Supernatural Stuff; and the guy who ends up taking the girl in. He lives in an abandoned church, and the community in general, although aware that he's not actually an official priest, accepts him as the next thing to because, let's face it, Nexus City doesn't exactly have a seminary or whatever it is that Catholics go through to become priests.
The community in general doesn't know that he's one of the aforementioned Sekrit Society's wet-works men, but what they don't know won't hurt them. At least not so long as he kills it first.
This is so done in so many ways, but whatever.
