2009 wasn't so bad. I'm still living in the same place, still working the same job, and both of those things are okay by me. I bought a car, which has not, so far, been working out quite as well as I could have hoped, but I'm choosing to remain hopeful. I found at least one good place to eat in town that I hadn't known about before. I went to a con, which was pretty fun, and I went on a weekend trip with friends that was very fun. I got in a car accident, which was not fun at all. And, for the first time, I did not make it home for Christmas... but that turned out more or less okay, I guess.

2009 fandom roundup, as cribbed from [livejournal.com profile] kasumi_blue.

Main fandom of the year:
Hmm, probably Baccano!. I think it's occupied more of my time this year than any other single fandom.

Favorite film seen this year:
If the question were best film I'd probably say Up, but since it's favorite... The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, I think.

Favorite book read this year:
Uh. I can't even remember all the books I've read this year, but probably Jim Butcher's Turn Coat.

Favorite album or song to listen to this year:
I'll be honest, I can't remember which songs and albums were my favorites further back than the past two months or so. Thus, my favorite song ends up being Sara Bareilles' "Gravity," which is discovered toward the end of the year and am still hooked on.

Favorite TV show of the year:
NCIS. I don't, admittedly, watch a lot of TV, excluding anime. Which I am, since I watch it differently than I watch ongoing live-action TV shows.

Favorite LJ community of the year:
[livejournal.com profile] masseffect. Possibly the sanest and most informative fandom community I've ever followed.

Best new fandom discovery of the year:
Baccano!. Completely random 'well, Best Buy is having a clearance sale so I'll pick this up' discovery.

Biggest fandom disappointment of the year:
Le Chevalier d'Eon, which was not a bad series but a) didn't have the level of genderfuck I was hoping for, b) killed off my favorite character well before the conclusion, and c) had a downer ending.

Fandom boyfriend of the year:
Alistair, Dragon Age Origins.

Fandom girlfriend of the year:
Alice Lei Malvin, Pumpkin Scissors.

Biggest squee moment of the year:
Hot young Watson! I started squeeing the moment I heard Jude Law was cast, and he fulfilled my expectations completely.

Biggest fan anticipations for the New Year:
Mass Effect 2. No question.
