Someday soon I'll shut up about Tiger & Bunny.
Today is not that day.
IVAN MADE IT, and what's more he toughed the whole thing out like a champ and brought back some useful information. I'm proud, and so relieved.
Or I would be, but I didn't get much of a chance to be really happy about his survival before everything else went straight to hell, starting with Kotetsu's big cock-up and the resulting rift between him and Barnaby. To be fair to Kotetsu, there was basically no way that confrontation was going to turn out in the heroes' favor (as the events of the rest of the episode proved) and he had the best of intentions at heart, but it was kind of a dick move all the same.
My heart kind of breaks a little for just about everyone in the episode, especially Kotetsu, feeling the weight of his screwup and trying so hard to make up for it by taking Jake down. I have the feeling it's going to take a little more than that to repair the damage to his partnership with Barnaby, but ending up putting himself into intensive care had better at least make for a good start.
(Also, awwwww Ben Jackson reappearing, and telling that guy he just bad-mouthed his friend. Man, every time that guy is in a scene I end up tearing up. ;_;)
We still haven't had any non-asshole deaths in the series, but I can't help but feel it's taken a turn for the darker nonetheless. The crucified hero shot of Sky High was rough. I don't see Barnaby beating Jake next episode, either; I figure they'll prevent the city from getting half-blown thanks to the signal-jamming plan and/or the efforts of the remaining heroes, but I'll be surprised if Bunny manages to keep his cool once Jake starts taunting him.
I'm really learning to hate Jake, both for the crap he's pulling and more generally for his obnoxious character tics. Get your finger out of your mouth, eugh. I really hope he's not going to be the big bad for the whole rest of the series; I don't think I can put up with him that long.
This whole situation is leaving me uncomfortably convinced that Sky High is not going to make it through the series... especially since they didn't kill Ivan this episode.
I can't help but wonder when Lunatic is going to make his move.
I was going to do some picspam in this post, too - this fandom is generating some epic fanart - but that got a little long. Maybe I'll do a separate post for it.
