home again home again

The stretch of the two-and-a-half-hour drive back from my mother's house that I like the best is the part of the Natchez Trace that runs along the reservoir. It's a pretty stretch of road any time of year, and the water is always some shade of pewter or brushed silver or - like it was today - liquid gold from the reflected afternoon sun, blinding even if you don't look at it directly, but also beautiful.

One of these days I'm going to give into temptation and pull over someplace to take some pictures.

and in other news

I managed to go out last night and see The Voyage of the Dawn Treader with Mom, and enjoyed it pretty well. I'm impressed by how little of the story they actually ended up changing, particularly as compared to Prince Caspian.
