Happy discoveries that I have made today: fan translations of (some of) the Baccano! light novels online here.
They're mostly not complete, but all of the first novel is up, and between that site and
dawnelkin's LJ here, the fourth novel, Drugs and Dominos, is almost complete (and features a moment of pure unadulterated awesome from Luck, who has become my favorite character in the whole crazy business, and I swear it's not just because he's another random Takehito Koyasu character).
Baccano!, for anyone who's forgotten, is a series about Prohibition-era gangsters, thieves and killers and some elaborate shell games involving any or all of money, drugs, explosives, a train called the "Flying Pussyfoot," and the elixir of immortality. "Crazy awesome" about sums it up. The translations from the Japanese combined with the generally twisty and not-always-linear plots make the novels a bit hard to follow, but worth it anyhow.
