Speaking of that Baccano! fanfic, here's another not quite 200 words from what is probably near the end of the fic but which I am posting now because it pleases me and, hey, the series itself doesn't bother with chronological order either.

Luck had fully intended to give Eve at least a week to think things over for herself before he made the question official, but it seemed that Eve had other ideas. After only three days she came to him at Coraggioso, crossing the room with an air of purpose as he rose from his chair to greet her.
"Eve," he said, studying the lift of her chin as she came towards him. "This is--" Unexpected, he was going to say, although it wasn't really, but by that point she'd placed her hands on either side of his face and stood up on her toes to press her mouth to his in an earnest, artless kiss.
He stood quite still and kept his hands at his sides until she pulled back, blushing faintly at her own boldness. "Yes," she said, and only then did her aplomb falter a little into uncertainty. "--that is, if the offer is still on the table?"
Luck took a moment to consider her face as she stood there looking up at him, recognizing once again the look of clear-eyed determination with which she met his regard. "Yes," he said, and lowered his head to hers to kiss her again.
