I am forced to conclude that atrocity is correct and they are writing Takuma Kazura just for me.

Basically the only points he's missing are a little sister complex and being voiced by Takehito Koyasu. And it's not too late on that first one, though it looks like the Sibling Issues are going to be Yukina's particular territory instead.

But he kind of hates himself, so there is that!

Update now that I've seen through episode 4: I am kind of sad that they didn't spend more time with Kazura and the prostitutes, because that really seemed like comedy gold just waiting to happen.

I'm confused about his name now, though. I guess Takuma is his given name and Kazura is either his family name or his spy pseudonym.

From what (little) I've read, I think 'Takuma' is the real name. I'm actually quite confused, myself, over his use of two names as opposed to everyone else on the team being pretty gung ho about the lack of SECRET SPY IDENTITIES. It makes it even more strange because he's Mr. Proud Samurai Descendent, so you think he'd be more inclined to use his real name as much as everyone else.

PERHAPS HE HAS HIDDEN SHAME EMO, or maybe he's just the only thorough guy working for Sakurai. Hard to say at this point!


MAN, TOO: I wanted to ask if you've ever heard/seen a series called 'Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto.' I sort've stumbled upon it, and should I EVER FIND A TORRENT I'm going to give it a shot. It totally seems like something up our alley (even the frowny protagonist looks like a token you-character)

Actually it's probably because he's from an Honorable Samurai Family. Since he's got all this emo about being raised as a Proud Samurai Descendant and then being forced into Dishonorable Spy Work because of his superpowers, it sort of makes sense that he'd use an alias to separate his Dishonorable Spy Self from his Honorable Samurai Family and keep from Sullying His Family's Good Name... whereas Yukina's brother has already gotten there ahead of her, Natsume's a servant anyway, and Aoi probably just doesn't care that much. Assuming Aoi is his real name, I don't think we've gotten a flashback for him that's confirmed one way or the other.

...wow, Bakumatsu does look really pretty. And it has a :| :| :| mercenary protagonist; I am all over it. Let me know if you find a torrent!

THEY CLEARLY DID.

I have watched the first episode of Bakuwhatsit and feel very much as though I have come in on the middle of something, but man the main character is pretty.

Also, there are some amazing eyebrows in this series.
