Let me just get this out of the way first:

Ffffffffffffffahahahaha okay I'm done.

Hilariously, the line in Japanese actually includes the phrase "o-hime-sama dakko" - "princess carry." ilu Bunny. XD

But more seriously, it is nice to see the two main characters getting along better and actually developing a functional partnership, not to mention Bunny finally getting the stick out of his ass. Episode 8 was made of adorable, between the Legion Hero Academy, Kotetsu finally getting some respect (if only from the Substitutes students), and of course Origami Cyclone.

[livejournal.com profile] elsewhere7 called that one: Oh, Ivan. Aw, punkin. :C Please do not die, I don't want to have to cry like a little girl.

My prediction at this point is that the climactic conflict is going to be Tiger vs. Lunatic for Barnaby's soul - by which I mean that I'll be very much surprised if Mr. Creepy McPalm-Face doesn't try to encourage Barnaby to come over to the Dark Side and kill Jake Martinez. (But take my predictions with a grain of salt; I was half convinced for a while between episodes 7 and 11 that Mr. Maverick and Doc Saito were up to no good, but that's seeming increasingly unlikely.) I do kind of love Tiger's attitude when interacting with Lunatic in general, though: "Yeah, well, your face."

The emergence of the A-plot has moved the show up from "fun series I am enjoying" to "when is next episode ouuut? D:"

Also: is it just me or does Blue Rose maybe have a tiny bit of a crush on Kotetsu? Finding out that he'd been married and had a daughter certainly broke her brain.

YOU AND ME BOTH. Yes, Kotetsu having a daughter shattered Blue Rose. Dragon Kid is sweet. The A-plot has been kicking so much ass.

Personal prediction; uneasy alliance between our heroes and Lunatic, against Ouroboros (Martinez is a crime against fashion, but Criem has a NICE look).

And yes. Oh, Ivan!

See, this is new for me. I usually only see anime years after it's out and I borrow DVDs from friends or find them someplace. This is the first one I'm watching as it airs.

4 PM-ish EST Saturday can't come fast enough.

I'm kind of used to it since we've been watching new series at animenite for a while, but I mostly haven't gotten this into any of them, and the few that I have gotten hooked on have either finished by the time I felt the need to start watching ahead or had manga out which made for something of a buffer. So, yeah, anticipation flail.

But I'm pleased to observe that the series seems to be doing really well in Japan as well as catching on with US fans (apparently Tiger, Bunny, and Sky High up and completely ran off with the top three "favorite character of new spring anime" spots of a Japanese fan poll) and it looks like it's going to run for a full 24 or 26 episodes so they won't have to rush into a conclusion and there'll be plenty of time for further developments. (And focus episodes for Sky High and Rock Bison.)

When I stop and think about it I don't really know why my feeling has been that Lunatic is going to be the bigger of the Big Bads that we've seen so far, aside from maybe just that he made the scene first and Jake Martinez only showed up recently. They both seem equally crazy, but at least Lunatic has some (albeit warped) standards. I guess we'll see.
