I can't bring myself to accept pseudo-words like "hir" and "xie" as acceptable pronouns for use in reference to the differently gendered... and I don't care if that makes me a bad person.
I hate those damned things too. I like what Amber did. She spots a transgender at this one event of a certain nature, she walks up to them and says "Pardon me, this is going to sound like a really stupid question, but do you prefer to be referred to as he or she?"
They smiled quite pleasantly and said "She."
That's it. Don't muck about with an already-abused language, open up a damned dialogue.
You know, I've seen a lot of odd sexual identifications, and a lot of them have belonged to people who were pretty damned crazy, but none of them, but none, have I ever seen refer to themselves with a Bullshit Pronoun.
