Since I totally swept [livejournal.com profile] ahumblepen's meme - and since I've gone nuts with content lately, or at least writing, which for me counts as content - it is only fair that I give her the chance to retaliate.

So, have a meme.

1. Pick 15 of your favorite movies.
2. Then pick one of your favorite quote/s from each movie.
3. Post the quotes in your journal.
4. Have those on your friends list to guess what the movie is.
5. Either strike out the quote once it has been correctly identified, or place the guesser's user name directly after the quote.

1) "I hope you're not letting yourself be influenced by the guns these pocket edition desperados are waving around, because I've practiced taking guns from these boys before so we'll have no trouble there." - The Maltese Falcon ([livejournal.com profile] erispope)

2) "Nothing - wha - what do you mean nothing good? We've seen everything good. We've seen the whole city! We went to a museum, we saw priceless works of art! We ate pancreas!" - Ferris Bueller's Day Off ([livejournal.com profile] spot_mcdog)

3) "That means I'm out of a job. At last I can start suffering and write that symphony."
"You're not out of job, we're putting you in as head of our new music department."
"Oh, thanks, R.F.! At last I can stop suffering and write that symphony."

4) "Oh good! My dog found the chainsaw!" - Lilo And Stitch ([livejournal.com profile] indigoskynet)

5) "Wonderful girl. Either I'm going to kill her or I'm beginning to like her." - Star Wars: A New Hope ([livejournal.com profile] ahumblepen)

6) "They look like big, good, strong hands, don't they? I always thought that's what they were..." - The Neverending Story ([livejournal.com profile] ahumblepen and [livejournal.com profile] indigoskynet)

7) "Look, I've got a gun out there in my purse. Up until now I've been forgivin' and forgettin' because of the way I was brought up, but I'll tell you one thing. If you ever say another word about me or make another indecent proposal, I'm gonna get that gun of mine, and I'm gonna change you from a rooster to a hen with one shot! And don't think I can't do it!" - 9 to 5 ([livejournal.com profile] ahumblepen)

8) "I would rather be a ghost drifting by your side as a condemned soul than enter heaven without you... because of your love, I will never be a lonely spirit." - Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon ([livejournal.com profile] atrocity)

9) "They said you was hung!" "And they was right!" - Blazing Saddles ([livejournal.com profile] bentarc)

10) "Male company will be a welcome relief in this hothouse of female emotions."

11) "Why did I keep the car? Ten people right there. Ten people. Ten more people. This pin. Two people. This is gold. Two more people. He would have given me two for it, at least one. One more person. A person, Stern. For this. I could have gotten one more person..." - Schindler's List ([livejournal.com profile] infinitepryde)

12) "No, no, listen. Don't listen to me, listen." - The Last Unicorn ([livejournal.com profile] zippyfish)

13) "And with a flick of my wrist, I could change your religion." - [livejournal.com profile] erispope

14) "Merciful Father, I have squandered my days with plans of many things. This was not among them. But at this moment, I beg only to live the next few minutes well. For all we ought to have thought, and have not thought; all we ought to have said, and have not said; all we ought to have done, and have not done; I pray thee God for forgiveness." - The 13th Warrior ([livejournal.com profile] ahumblepen, after enough guessing! ;) )

15) "It's so stimulating being your hat." - Labyrinth ([livejournal.com profile] bentarc and [livejournal.com profile] indigoskynet)

Correct! Although I'm afraid I'm not certain who you are... are we acquainted from somewhere?

I just pushed the 'latest posts' button...

I bet 7 is 9 to 5 and I've never even seen it.

14 and 15 sound so familiar....

You are correct. And THEY HAD BETTER.

From: [identity profile] ahumblepen.livejournal.com
How 'BETTER' are we talking? Are there any other 'THEY HAD BETTER' on this list?

From: [identity profile] joiedecombat.livejournal.com
14 is the one that you REALLY HAD BETTER GET. I am also fairly sure you have seen 1, 5, 6, 9, 12, and 15. Although I could be wrong on some of those.

5 sounds mighty familiar too, but I can't .. quite... put my finger on them..

Oh, Christmas. #6 is the Stone Giant from the Neverending Story.

Ding!

That is a line and a scene which always gets to me.

Is 14 from Desperado? Or maybe Once Upon A Time In Mexico. Sometimes I can't keep the monologues straight.

Or maybe the 13th Warrior. I don't know. I've just convinced myself Antonio Banderas says it and maybe I am VERY WRONG. Augh.

From: [identity profile] joiedecombat.livejournal.com
You are not wrong! Although really it's not like I didn't mention The 13th Warrior over on your version of this meme... anyway, yes, that's the one. Your inner Antonio-voice did not let you down. :)

In my defense, he prays a lot in all three movies, and I know his prayer from Desperado is very similar.

But yeah, it's because he's such a sexy voice!

Number nine:

Blazing Saddles.

Number fifteen:

It's one of my favourite books. ;)

Mine too. I wasn't sure if anyone would catch such a short and nonspecific line, though, much as it's one of my favorites.

4) Lilo and Stitch

#5. Han Solo. I'm going to say A New Hope.

I could snark about how long it took someone to get that one, but in fairness it's not one of the more iconic lines. Much as I like it.

8) Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

I know because that line PWNED ME SO HARD.

I am terribly fond of it, even if it is all Disney-fied.

Also, #1 is The Maltese Falcon.

I hereby guess that #3 is "Mr. Holland's Opus."

And I know #10, but can't think of it.

From: [identity profile] joiedecombat.livejournal.com
Sadly, not correct.

#10 is my stumper. I will be impressed if anyone gets it.
