Ouran 20 Musings
Sep. 3rd, 2006 05:42 pmThe twins are going to start losing stock with me if the series keeps on devoting so much airtime to what jerks they can be. It does highlight their particular damage, and that is interesting, but only so long as a) it doesn't supercede the crackbrained humor that hooked me on the series to begin with, and b) there's still some sense of them making progress in overcoming that damage.
Which admittedly there is. If nothing else, episode 20 does give a very clear indication of how much they have changed since joining the Host Club - more than the effect Haruhi has had on them, truthfully, is the effect Tamaki and the Host Club have had on them. With the result, mostly, that I adore Tamaki even more now, and though I've been shipping everyone/Tamaki pretty much since the newspaper episode, at this point I think I ship it even more than I ship everyone/Haruhi.
It wasn't a very funny episode, though. 21 looks more promising, from the preview.
When do we get a school festival episode, dammit? D:

Date: 2006-09-03 10:55 pm (UTC)Episode 20 also casts a different light on Tamaki's reasons for starting the Host Club; up until pretty much this point we can assume it was something along the lines of "I'm bored and these guys seem pretty cool," but considering the twins' behavior throughout the episode, I can't believe that even Tamaki would really be thinking "hey, I like these guys, I want them in my club." Instead, it's seeming more like equal measures of "I want something to do and cool people to hang out with" and "These People Need Fixing, and I bet if I fix them they'll be cool people to hang out with!"
In short, d'aww, Tamaki. I ♥ that boy.
