A writing exercise done in preparation for
National Novel Writing Month, coming this November. I intend to do a number of these between now and November 1 - just taking a single word and spinning as much I can from it, in an attempt to grease the proverbial mental gears. They'll all refer back in some fashion to my intended NaNoWriMo project for this year, which is... the same thing I did last year, since my momentum died early and most of what I wrote sucked anyhow. This is kind of cheating, but it's too appealing of an idea not to try again; I'm going to just throw out everything I wrote and start fresh. (I keep aiming lower and lower, which would make me feel ashamed except I haven't actually won NaNo yet. Picking my battles!)
(Also, I still have all my notes from last year. That's pretty neat too.)
This is also an invitation for those of you following along at home to suggests words for me to use in these exercises, if you like - the simpler the better, preferably, but whatever strikes your fancy will do.
( Exercise #1: Red - 842 words. Cut for spam and melodrama )
